What are assistive listening devices?
Assistive listening devices work to expand the capabilities of hearing aids (and cochlear implants) by amplifying and separating the sounds you want to hear and reducing background noise when the speaker (or source of sound) is more than a few feet away. Hearing aids are traditionally designed to hear one- Assistive listening device systems generally consist of a microphone to collect sound, a transmitter to send the sounds signal across a distance, a receiver to intercept the signal and different listening attachments to send the sound from the receiver to your hearing aid, cochlear implant, or to your ear (via earbuds or headphones).
